From 1 April 2016 some employees in the UK will have a mandatory pay rise to £7.20 per hour. The living wage is set to rise over the next four years to £9.
Is this rise for everyone? No! it is for anyone over 25 and currently receiving less than that amount and on or above the minimum wage currently set at £6.70 per hour. That is a potential additional 50p per hour, 7.5% rise. If you are younger than 25 you will still be entitled to the minimum wage per hour relevant for your age as follows:
21 and over: £6.70, 18 to 20: £5.30, Under 18: £3.87 and Apprentice: £3.30.
